LRG celebrated 105 years of family ownership Thursday afternoon, July 27th at the J. L. Lanier building in downtown Jasper, Texas. The Lanier building was acquired on July 29, 1912 by Joseph Linton Lanier. The cash-register pictured is the original used in the J. L. Lanier & Company store. It was registered for use on May 8, 1930.
Chris Lanier, the owner of LRG, is the great grandson of Linton Lanier and Roberta Victoria (Hicks). Linton Lanier was the major owner of J. L. Lanier & Company, a men's clothing store located at 155 North Main Street for 65 years. The store stocked name brand items such as; Florsheim shoes, Curlee suits, Arrow shirts, etc. The Lanier family retained the building after Linton passed away, as his son Joe Lanier took over at that time. Since 2009, the building is home to LRG's support center, which houses 7 sales support personnel.
This year the anniversary date coincided with a meeting of the outside sales representatives for LRG. Chris and his office staff hosted 16 LRG Associates and vendors from a sales region that cover territories from Texas to Minnesota.
We at LRG are proud of the legacy this building holds. The history, memories, and family lineage ingrained in these walls will never be forgotten.
